The Base Doodle Beanie DK is the perfect everyday hat.  Simple construction and easy style modification options make this a fast favourite, add a little flair at the brim, or do all-over colorwork.

The Base Doodle Patterns are the first step in the Doodle Framework. Choose any Base Doodle Pattern, choose charts from any Collection, choose your yarns, and start knitting!

This hat is knit starting with a simple ribbed brim, followed by a section of optional colorwork, and finished with spiral crown decreases.

Approx. 14, 16, 18 (20, 22, 24) in [35, 40, 45 (50, 55, 60) cm] circumference

Approx. 6.5, 7, 7.5 (8, 8.5, 9) in ]16, 17.5, 19 (20, 21.5, 22.5) cm] height 

YARN

Any DK, light worsted, or sport weight yarn that meets gauge. Doodles are designed to use leftover yarn, yarn advents, or any other small batches of colorways in your stash. Yarn shown is a suggestion from the Designer. Alternative yarns are encouraged.

Sample uses 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Nylon DK by Fangirl Fibers, 100g 246 yards [225 m.]

Yardage listed in total yards per size in colorwork due to the customizable nature of this pattern.

175, 200, 225 (250, 275, 300) yards
160, 182, 206 (227, 251, 274) meters

NEEDLES

US 5/3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge

One size smaller needle for ribbing (optional)

16 in [40 cm] circular needles + Magic Loop or DPNs for crown decreases

GAUGE

24 sts & 24 rounds per 4 in [10 cm]

NOTIONS

Stitch markers (one in different color if adding colorwork)

Scissors & Tapestry needle

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Special techniques include (optional) stranded colorwork in the round, ribbing, and decreases.
